Bangor Mike shown dancing at the 2022 4th of July Parade in Bar Harbor, Maine

Funny videos has been the theme these past several days. And they have been some fast days for me! One minute it was the Bangor Pride Festival on June 25th, then I blink, and now here I am nursing a sunburn from the beach yesterday which was the Fourth of July. So time really is flying by. The featured image above is me captured mid-dance while giving everyone a pre-parade performance in Bar Harbor. I didn’t get banned from the city so it couldn’t have been that bad.

TikToking and Podcasting

Since my last blog post, I’ve been working on a few things. First, I’ve made a couple of funny videos with the help of my family. I have added two of those videos here for your viewing torture pleasure. If you’d like to see more, please subscribe to my YouTube channel by clicking here.

I’ve also been working on getting back into podcasting for the first time in about 10 years. So at this time there are a pair of projects in the pipe at the moment. The first podcast is a collaboration between my wife and I where we talk about the humorous side of life as parents, pop culture references, trivia, and living in Maine. The second is a podcast where I talk about life and issues here in Bangor, Maine with the goal of informing Bangoreans of what the Queen City of the East is up to and encouraging listeners to explore all of the great things Bangor has to offer. I am still working out some equipment issues, but we’re getting there.

Social Media has changed

I’ve been learning about all of the new ways to upload content to the Internet. YouTube has been creeping into TikTok’s territory with the new “Shorts” feature. With the total audience YouTube has it makes perfect sense to upload my videos to both TikTok and YouTube. Additionally, I’ve thrown Facebook in there for good measure. I’ve been working on bringing my funny videos where the people are.

One of the things I’ve really liked about using TikTok for making new videos is how quick and easy it makes the process. As soon as a funny little idea strikes me, I can have a video created and uploaded in 10 to 15 minutes. I am grateful any time the creative process can be streamlined.
