City Council approved 4 more ARPA allocations by order during the meeting of October 11, 2023.

Those allocations are:

Bangor Children’s Home$350,748.00
Bangor YMCA$2,000,000.00
Heart of Maine United Way$400,000.00
Wabanaki Public Health and Wellness$648,000.00

Resolve passed to accept the ARPA funds.

Also during this meeting the City Council corrected what it considered an administrate oversight. Previously they had not passed a resolve to officially accept the entirety of the State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds that the city was awarded by the U.S. Treasury through the American Rescue Plan Act.

City Council had previously stated during workshops that all interest earned on the ARPA funds would also be used for ARPA eligible projects. This was a significant promise made to the citizens of Bangor, as the U.S. Treasury’s Final Rule stated recipients did not have to report or remit interest earned on SLFRF, nor is that interest bound by ARPA eligibility rules.

Resolve 23-314 codified that promise about the interest.
