Front of the Bangor Area Recovery Network building

July 10, 2023 – Bangor City Council officially approved $415,600 in ARPA funds for the Bangor Area Recovery Network (BARN) for badly needed improvements to their building.

The BARN is an invaluable resource in this county’s struggle against substance use disorder. The programming and support network they offer to those in recovery is second to none. The funding they will receive will update a building that was built over 70 years ago, giving it the longevity it needs to continue serving the next generation of citizens who may need those recovery services.

Substance use disorder was on the rise during the COVID pandemic and assisting the community in recovering from that disease is one of the many eligible uses of ARPA funds. The city of Bangor awarding funds to the BARN was a good investment.
